Asteraceae · Pycnosorus globosus
A very attractive perennial plant with long stemmed golden globe flowers. Long flowering, from spring to summer, on a narrow rosette of leaves which are covered in woolly hairs. They naturally grow in rather swampy places, so need a moist but well drained soil to be at their best. Very frost tolerant, and can take dry periods and coastal sites. Grows from an underground rhizome, so if the plant dies off, it can resprout – Foliage may die off over winter in cold climates and re-sprout again in spring.
Great cut flowers, long lasting, stout stems, with an eye catching shape. Can also be used for drying.
