Frost tender Annual

An heirloom patty pan or custard squash originally from Gatersleben, Germany, and suited to cool climates. Compact bushes are highly productive over a long period if fruit is harvested regularly. The fruit is lemon yellow maturing to orange with a flattened top that's been compared to a beret or even a 'muffin top'. The tender flesh has a sweet flavour, best when fruit is harvested young (no more than 10cm across). Suitable to eat raw, roasted, grilled or sauteed.
